It’s hard to pinpoint exactly where my desire to traveled all started. Some might say in 2014, when I started high school and decided I wanted to go out of state for college. Or in 2017, when I moved across country for college to a new place I had never been before. Perhaps in 2021, when I took my first international trip to Italy with a friend of mine. Id likely pin it all down to my desire to learn and do something different. I’d also like to preference a lot of what I do is exactly what I want to do and what brings me joy in life. I am not one to listen to the status quo of others who have not done what I am looking to do.

My name is Elysabeth and here is a little background information out me. I grew up in Bremerton, WA. By the time I was 21, I had three college degrees and started my career in healthcare. As a child I traveled to a few different states with family and friends, and we did one cruise as a family to Mexico. It’s safe to say I traveled some as a child but I really got started in 2021.
In the fall of 2021, a friend of mine and I had decided we wanted to take a week trip to Italy. It was both of our first times going out of the country as adults without family, needless to say from that point my desire to see and do more grew. Fast forward to 2024, I’ve been to 16 countries and 28 states in the US. During my travels, I’ve done most tyoes of trips; solo, random group, friend group, retreat. Etc. I’ve planned my own two-month trip through Asia and gone on completely planned group trips where all I did was show up.

This blog, Travel With Ely, to me is something that allows me to give to others. To show it’s not as scary as one might think, that it is possible working full time, or that it doesn’t have to be some extravagant trip for you to travel. I want to help others see more than hearsay from people who have never left their hometown. I always hear about the danger, how scary it must be, or how expensive. I’m here to be the person that says do it.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to join me on this new adventure. I hope this brings you courage, ideas or the nudge you need to not listen to others. I hope you’ll continue to follow along as I aim to grow a community of likeminded people.
