Over the summer this year, I was very fortunate to be able to go to Vietnam. I visited a few cities and spent a couple weeks Odin the country. It was so lovely, and one of the things that really sparked my attention was the accommodation options. The Silverland May Hotel in Ho Chi Minh was beautiful, absolutely lovely. I really couldn’t recommend it enough. The hotel staff was so kind and helpful and really helped to make everything go very smoothly, especially an early morning birthday surprise with some champagne and cake.

The hotel is located in district one, and I personally felt like it was a really good location for a lot of things. I was able to walk around everywhere for the most part and tours were able to pick us up with no problem. There were so many restaurants, cafes and things to do within walking distance of the hotel. Song Sai Goin river that goes throughout Ho Chi Minh was only a few blocks away, which made for a nice leisurely walk by the water.

The hotel itself was beautiful. I ended up staying in the suite room, which comes with a lovely tub in the outer corridor, and you have this beautiful space where you can sit and have your breakfast or your morning coffee. There’s outdoor seating and table along with the a huge outdoor bath, with plenty of space for two people. This area was probably the size of most hotel rooms. The main room has a cozy queen-size bed, full bathroom and another chaise chair with a table. It also had a lovely makeup vanity to do your morning routine right by a large window. The blinds were perfect too; they made it so it was easy to sleep in.

The hotel itself has a gym and a spa within it. They also offer discounted services to the spa when you stay at the hotel. The hotel does offer a buffet breakfast option when booking your accommodation. They also have a lovely rooftop pool with a bar. The pool is a spacious size with warm water. They have hammocks around one side chairs and tables around the other; it’s very relaxing. They even gave us complimentary drinks when we were up there for a birthday present, which was very thoughtful. It’s really just a very nice way to relax even while you’re in the city; you don’t really hear the sounds of the streets. The sunset view is perfect for the vibrant colors that paint the sky.

One of my favorite parts about the hotel is something that I’ve never experienced for free from a hotel before. Every day from 2 PM to 3:30. They host a teatime where you can come get snacks, tea, and coffee. They have local musicians coming in and playing instruments and singing, and it’s all for free for hotel guests every single day. They have waffles and tons of Vietnamese treats; they also have sweet and savory options. They usually will have a very nice tea to pick from along with your choice of coffee preferences. It’s overall a very fun experience and definitely something to look forward to because it’s just so relaxing in a nice midday tree where you’re probably feeling sneaky from whatever you did in the morning, and now you get to go and have this wonderful snack teatime and enjoy music and really just hang out with whoever you’re on the trip with, or it’s just beautiful by yourself as well.

Overall, I feel like this hotel was one of the best hotels that I have stayed in, from how beautiful the room was to the nice open-air bathtub, which I need to remind you fits two people comfortably, to the amenities that they offer, and the hospitality of the staff, which was really outstanding all around. They really made the birthday trip very memorable, comfortable, and special. Also, the fact that it’s kind of in the middle of a lot of things—if you want to go to museums, if you want to go shopping, if you want to go out to eat, there’s just something for everybody within walking distance, which is very beautiful as well—and the best part is it’s very affordable to stay at this hotel. It was ranked as one of the best hotels, and I absolutely understand why. This will definitely be the hotel that I stay in every time I go to Ho Chi Minh.
