If you’re thinking of traveling to Puerto Rico or looking for a place to hold your next retreat, I have the spot for you. On the smaller island of Vieques, in the middle of the beautiful, luscious trees, lies the gorgeous property called Finca Victoria. It holds the perfect blend of outdoors, luxury and a whole lot of love.
When you fly into Puerto Rico, you have two options for getting to the island of Vieques. You can take a flight from the airport, or you can drive to the opposite side of the island and take the ferry across. The flights can be a little more on the expensive side because they’re short and frequent, and the planes are a little puddle hoppers, so if you’re looking for a cheaper way to get there, you can get a taxi or rent a car to get to the ferry terminal to get across.
Once you find yourself on the island, it’s a short drive to Finca. No matter where you arrive at the airport or ferry, there will be taxis around ready to take you anywhere on the island. On your drive, you’ll be met with beautiful tall trees and horses wandering through the streets.
Once you reach the front, you will drive up, probably pass some horses through the driveway and enter through a large wooden fence that encloses the property. You will have the choice of a few different types of rooms. They do have a shared room in a really cool, unique Airstream mobile home that they’ve converted into a room. This is the Room, a friend and I shared on our recent retreat there. It has a beautiful deck that overlooks all the luscious greenery that they’ve kept intact throughout the property. They also have the option of a Villa or a king bed, and there are a few sweet options as well, so it really works with whatever you’re in the mood for when you go. One of their unique room ideas is also their treehouse series, which incorporates the trees within the room you’re staying in. All of the rooms are also equipped with a kitchen, so you’re able to make dinner if you don’t feel like going out that night.
One of the best parts about the property is the abundance of nature that is left within the property throughout all of the amenities that they have and all of the rooms. They have a beautiful yoga studio that overlooks the ocean, which gives you immaculate views in the morning for an early morning yoga or just throughout the day when you need a little break or stretch. They also have hammocks around the pool, and each of the rooms has a private hammock. Which is something that I always find to be a little extra touch that I enjoy. They also offer different therapies, including massages, abhyanga, facials, and more spa treatments. For communal spaces, they have a beautiful open area dining area that walks right out to this lovely pool, surrounded by hammocks and places to sit. The whole property almost feels like a communal space outside of the rooms because it’s integrated with nature, which is also a nice feeling.
They also provide vegan breakfast and food, which are some of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had. They have chefs come in every morning, and they prepare lovely meals that are very nutritious and warming to the soul. They use fresh ingredients locally sourced from the island and from the people around, so every day is something different and unique. And it’s always fresh and delicious, and this makes you feel amazing for the day to come.
Let’s also not forget that while it’s located within the trees in the jungle, it is only a short drive to a beautiful white sand beach, where you can go snorkeling, swimming, spend the day just enjoying the beautiful sun, or you can end it with a beautiful horseback ride at sunset along the waves.
If you’re looking for a quiet escape to relax, unwind, connect with nature or just be somewhere where you can see the Milky Way, Finca Victoria is definitely a spot to keep your eye on. It’s such a perfect mix of being with nature and still having the amenities that you want to feel fully relaxed and let your mind wander.
